Description:
This week the Rondo Theatre in Larkhall is to host two shows; tonight (Wednesday 25 January) will see Simon Munnery take to the stage and then Rogue Theatre will move in from Thursday to Saturday.
Hats Off to the 101ers, and Other Material is a brand new show from Simon Munnery, star of BBC2’s Attention Scum and BBC Radio 4’s Where Did It All Go Wrong? Simon loves playing Bath and the Rondo in particular and he’s delighted to be bringing this new show to the theatre. The show promises to be brilliantly thoughtful and hilarious and the audience can expect an extravagant mess of foaming bubble hats, superlative jokes, bad guitar riffs, delightful monologues, hand-made engineering feats and, possibly a tad over-ambitious, one-man punk musical about the R101 airship of the 1930s. The show begins at 8.00PM. Tickets are priced at £13/£11.
The Rondo is very pleased to be welcoming Rogue Theatre back once again, there are few companies in the country producing work that’s as visually stunning and exciting and Rondo audiences have been very impressed with past visits. Dancer and the Devil, created by Rogue Theatre with Anna Maria Murphy, was developed at BAC, Prema, The Lowry and in the woods; it is a blend of showmanship and poetry, mixing spectacle, narrative and dance with live music and a wild spirit.
The Dancer and the Devil presents the story of those displaced, those who have had to hide, to run away from past lives scarred by war time secrets. The audience will be invited to lose themselves in a world of entertainment, smell wood smoke and perfume, taste danger and experience the wild thrill of the forest. There will be performances at 8.00PM each evening. Tickets are priced at £12/£10.
