Tickets have gone on sale for a very special event taking place at Bath Racecourse on 21 July – the Sulis Sound Track Festival of Music and Sport will feature a musical programme headlined by Jools Holland and his Rhythm and Blues Orchestra alongside an all day programme of sports activities for families.
Inspired by the London 2012 Olympic Games, Bath Music Plus are teaming up with Bath and North East Somerset County Council’s Sports and Active Lifestyles team to present a sports day for the City of Bath, it’s being described as “Glastonbury meets the Olympics.”
Jools Holland and his Rhythm and Blues Orchestra play to over 200,000 people a year and recently sold out the Royal Albert Hall, the 20-piece band will be joined on stage by a number of special guests who will remain a mystery until the night. The musical programme will also feature Vintage Trouble, voted Classic Rock Band of the Year 2011 they are considered one of the hottest bands in the world and have been thrilling European audiences, as well as reggae/dub/ska band The Skints, a London act that are hotly tipped for 2012. The festival will also showcase some of the South West’s best emerging acts including artists from BA1, City of Bath College’s own record label.
In addition to two performance stages festival goers will find representatives from every sports club in Bath and North East Somerset and will be able to take part in every conceivable type of Olympic sport from fencing, archery and cycling to hockey, volleyball and rowing. There will be special events for the under fives and the event will include the Cotswold Way 10km race, organised by Relish the Outdoors as part of their race/run series.
Adult tickets cost £34 with under 16s paying £16; a family ticket for two adults and two children is priced at £70.
