Description:
Bath Cats and Dogs Home and Not Just Pets are teaming up to host an Open Day at the company’s new store on St James Parade in the centre of the city, with all proceeds being donated to the animal charity.
Bath Cats and Dogs Home is one of the largest rehoming centres in the UK and every year deals with around 2,500 unwanted cats, dogs and small animals. The home has a strict non-destruction policy and aims to find every single animal a new loving home, however long that takes. Although affiliated to the RSPCA the home does not receive financial support from them and with running costs in the region of £3,500 a day it relies heavily on the support of the community, including local independent businesses such as Not Just Pets.
Not Just Pets is a group of three, family-run, friendly pet shops with branches in Larkhall, Frome and Bath. The pet shops have been run by the Tozer family since 2004. Over Christmas the Bath branch moved into new premises at 8-9 St James Parade; to go with their new home they have new aquariums, a new reptile room, new small animal enclosures and lots of new products.
To celebrate the opening of the new store an Open Day will be held on Saturday 25 February. There will be face painting, raffles and competitions plus the chance to get up close and personal with some animals including Russell the Rabbit and Claverton, the canine mascot of Bath Cats and Dogs Home, who will both be happy to pose for photographs and may even allow the odd hug.
The shop will be open from 9.30AM until 5.30PM and all proceeds will be donated to Bath Cats and Dogs Home.
